Server Down....reason TBD « Thread Started on Jul 25, 2009, 8:06pm »
The server went wacky just a little bit ago. Not sure what's going on but at present but it will not boot back up.
If it's the same problem as last time (blown MB)...we will have a problem. I don't currently have the funds to replace the MB.
I'm opening the case tomorrow to have a look. I know now what to look for on the MB. Hoping it's not that but at the same time, if it isn't i'm not sure what's going on. We'll keep you advised.

I'm not sure what's wrong with it NCC. I don't see any blown capacitors, which was the problem last time. I've read this thread about 50 times and typed a reply about 10. I'm still stuggling with a response. lol
Right now I don't have the cash to take it in to have it checked. I suspect the CPU might have overheated because it always ran a bit on the 'warm' side. But until I have teh money to take it in and have that checked, she's down
As soon as I can I'm taking it in. I just can't right now, unfortunately.

ok, does it post or is it just compleatly off, does the PSU test out? perhaps ohm out some of the main leads. do you have another CPU to swap into it? what kind of board and socket? does resetting the bios do anything or putting the ram into diffrent slots? when you say hot do you mean its above 60C or its over 80C? there was a time that i tried hosting a sfc3 server, ive got a 20X5 MB line right now, i could build a server and throw up the server if you wanted to send the files via ftp or somthing... ive also got about 20 MB's and over 100 CPU's of all kinds sitting in my parts bins here... if ya figure out where the problum lies.

Took me a while to find all the info you had questions about NCC.
Okay, it doesn't seem to be posting but the fans and everything start up. But nothing shows on the monitor.
The MB is an Asus P5WD2 with a 775 socket. I don't think the CPU was over 80C but was close to that (73-76 IIRC)
I don't have another CPU I can swap in there that I know of. I'll have to hunt down my other PC manuals to see what the others have in them. lol
Now that I found the manual for this one, I can check on how to reset the bios and see if that works. Hadn't thought of swapping the ram to different slots. I can try that too.

ok, my first thought is have you reset the bios, have you tried putting a pci or pcie video card into the system, or running on onboard if you normaly use a riser card. is the PSU giving proper voltage and amprs on all rails? 80C for a 775 is nothing huge, they are rated to run stable at 95 but recomended to ru at 60-70.
